Washington: Qureshi Addresses News Conference

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said India is committing gross violations of human rights in Occupied Kashmir.

Addressing the news conference in the Washington, Foreign Minister said the controversial citizen amendment bill exposed false democratic face of India.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said India faced global condemnation for mistreating and jeopardizing minority rights.

Foreign Minister said Pakistan has always upheld equal rights of minorities and the recent opening of Kartarpur Corridor reflects Pakistan’s respect for minority rights.

Foreign Minister emphasized that in order to keep the world community oblivious of the ground realities, India continued to impose blockade on communication in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He urged international community and United Nations to step forward to help Kashmiris escape Indian brutalities and oppression.

Referring to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, Foreign Minister said Pakistan cannot afford new conflict and crisis in its neighborhood.

Foreign Minister said Pakistan supports negotiated settlement for peaceful resolution of conflicts in the region.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Pakistan is playing its due role in defusing tensions in the region.

He said Pakistan desire to build a broad-based and enduring partnership between Pakistan and the United States.

He said both countries need to enhance cooperation in fields of trade, investment and agriculture.
